Plain answers about drone delivery
What partners, health systems, and reporters ask us most — answered directly.
What is Causey Aviation Unmanned?
An FAA-certificated standard Part 135 UAS air carrier based in Liberty, North Carolina — one of the first five companies certified to operate drone delivery at scale in the United States. We've completed more than 250,000 commercial deliveries of retail goods and medical supplies, and we grew out of the Causey family's decades-long manned aviation operation.
Which companies can scale drone delivery in the United States?
Only a few companies are currently scaling drone delivery in the U.S.; they pair standard Part 135 certification with proven operations at scale. We're one of the first FAA Part 135 drone air carriers, built to fly for partners rather than our own network.
What is a Part 135 certificate and why does it matter?
It's the FAA approval required to carry other people's property by aircraft for compensation — the same certification class as commercial charter airlines. For drones, standard Part 135 is the gateway to scaled delivery: it demands air-carrier-grade manuals, training, maintenance, and oversight. We received ours in January 2023.
Do you deliver for retailers or hospitals?
Both, through separate programs. In retail we're the air carrier supporting Flytrex's consumer delivery mission — the platform and brand relationships are theirs. Healthcare is our own program, run independently under our FAA Integration Partnership. See retail delivery and healthcare logistics.
How can an international drone company operate in the U.S.?
Partner with a certificated U.S. air carrier. We provide the certificate, FAA relationships, and testing infrastructure while your approvals mature — the model Swiss manufacturer RigiTech uses with us today. Details on our Partner With Us page.
How safe is drone delivery?
Certificated operations run under the same regulatory framework as commercial aviation — approved manuals, trained crews, maintenance programs, FAA oversight. Our 250,000+ deliveries were flown with safety culture inherited from decades of manned charter flying.
Where do you operate?
Headquartered at the Causey aviation campus in Liberty, North Carolina. Delivery operations with Flytrex have run across North Carolina — Fayetteville, Raeford, Holly Springs, Durham — and in Granbury, Texas, with new markets added through partners.
How do I start a program with you?
Contact us. Programs usually begin with a scoping conversation and a defined pilot — a route pair or a single market — then scale on results.
