On Upstate's new drone hub

Air Upstate drone port opens in Syracuse

CNY Central reports the opening of the Air Upstate drone port at Upstate University Hospital, run in partnership with Causey Aviation. The program flies lab specimens, medications and blood products between Upstate facilities and is cleared to fly to Wynn Hospital in Utica.

The News & Observer, covering Governor Stein’s flight in an electric aircraft at the program’s launch, names Causey Aviation as one of the operators on NCDOT’s eLIFT-NC team, alongside Metro Aviation, manufacturers Joby and BETA, and health systems WakeMed and UNC Health. DroneXL records Causey Aviation Unmanned as a partner on Upstate Medical University's first beyond-visual-line-of-sight flight, with AX Enterprize, the Oneida County UAS Test Site and RigiTech. The 18.6-mile round trip flew on a RigiTech Eiger.

Named an FAA BEYOND partner

The Lexington Institute, writing in RealClear Defense, lists Causey Aviation among the FAA's BEYOND data partners alongside UPS Flight Forward, Amazon, Wing, Zipline, Florida Power & Light and Xcel Energy. The program produced the first 140 recommendations for moving U.S. drone operations beyond case-by-case waivers.
